Champion Thoroughbreds owners experienced the thrill of victory on Saturday when talented three year old Hell to Pay, claimed the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast.
Trained by John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, Hell to Pay had shown promise in his previous starts, finishing behind quality runners like Wanaruah, Codetta, Gerringong, and the highly-rated So You Think filly Tuileries.
Stepping up to 1400m for the first time, Hell to Pay delivered a strong performance under Craig Williams, taking full advantage of the conditions to secure an impressive win by a length and a half.
With a win and four placings from five starts, Hell to Pay has banked over $170,000 proving a good investment having been purchased by Champion Thoroughbreds for $280,000 from the draft of Yarraman Park, who retain an interest in his ownership.
Also in the ownership is the Kingsport Investment syndicate who were the lucky winners of a TAB promotion in 2023, giving them $50,000 to spend on a share in a yearling at the Magic Millions. That yearling turned out to be Hell To Pay who rewarded with a thrilling maiden win, with excellent prize money.
Congratulations to all his owners Yarraman Park Stud, Kingsport Investments, Sedgewyn, Mr D J Hines, Mr P Hines, Dunbar Family Racing , Mr J E Forker, Mr P C Barnett, Mr S J Brown, Mr J G Codner, Dream Team, Mrs D L Fisher, Mr T S Fisher, Mr C D Hands, Mr W S Simpson
