Lion's Roar Big Dance Bound After Wyong Cup Win
A three month plan came to fruition in the Listed Wyong Cup on Friday when Lion's Roar earned his ticket to the $3M Big Dance in November after taking out the feature event.

The 7 year old veteran, who was runner-up in the Little Dance last year from barrier 20 with 62kg's was due for a change of luck after qualifying for the consolation race with a 2nd placing in the 2023 Wagga Gold Cup. That change of luck came in the 8 horse field, where Lion's Roar carried 59kg's from barrier 2 with jockey Jason Collett aboard who has built a great association with him over the last 12 months.

In a race that presented with little speed on paper, Lion's Roar landed outside the leader by default when beginning well from the gates. The long priced Kim Waugh runner Camaguey rolled along in front, allowing Lion's Roar to travel beautifully in a stalking position. Collett started building momentum from the 600m and was able to give a good kick around the home turn to stave off the challengers for a half a length win over Luncies (Kris Lees) and Manzoice (Chris Waller).

"He's just so honest. He was happy today, travelled so well and fought hard when he needed to" an elated Jason Collett told connections after the win.

“Where do we find more like this horse? He won at two and is now seven and has won over $2.3million, giving his owners a great ride, and it’s not finished left.” commented trainer John O'Shea to the media.

“He has been a tremendous horse for Champion Thoroughbreds and our stable,”

Lion's Roar will now be set for the $3M Big Dance at Randwick on Melbourne Cup, the same track and distance when he won his Group 1 as a three year old in the Randwick Guineas.
