Camelot Colt Purchased From Goffs Orby Sale

Lot 478 Camelot x Sixpenny Sweets Colt

After a few late nights coordinating with our agent Cathy Grassick in Ireland, we were thrilled to acquire a beautiful Camelot colt from the Goffs Orby yearling sale. He is out of Sixpenny Sweets, a mare who has produced four runners, all of which are winners, including Spangler. Spangler, an earner of over $900k from 16 starts, is Group 3 placed and won last year's Little Dance, narrowly beating our own Lion's Roar. Sixpenny Sweets is very well related, being a half-sister to three group winners!

In 2022, we purchased another high-quality Camelot colt from Europe who turned out to be Suit Of Armour. Suit of Armour won twice and was placed twice from just 6 starts, including a Sydney Metro win before being sidelined with a tendon injury. This made us eager to find another high-quality European staying proposition.

We were impressed by this exceptional colt's pedigree, physical, and attitude, and we believe he offers great value, purchased for 90,000 Euros (approximately AUD 145k). His sire, Camelot, commands a stud fee of 50,000 euros at Coolmore Stud in Ireland, and his offspring achieved an average price of 120,000 at the Goffs Orby sale (approximately AUD 193k).

We have partnered with the likeable training trio of Ben, JD, and Will Hayes from Lindsay Park, who will be responsible for training this colt in Victoria. We believe that this colt is well-suited for the races available for staying-bred horses in the south.
