Last year, Champion Thoroughbreds purchased a yearling colt from the first crop of Animal Kingdom, and he has developed into one of our most promising two-year-olds. This year, Champion has acquired an Animal Kingdom yearling filly who is out of a black-type producing More Than Ready mare from the family current multiple grade one winning sprint star Malaguerra.

Animal Kingdom – himself a son of Champion Turf Horse Leroidesanimaux – was a remarkably talented and versatile performer. A decisive winner of the Kentucky Derby (gr. I), on his dirt debut, he also captured the Dubai World Cup (gr. I) on an all-weather surface, and defeated all but two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. I) on the turf.

This Animal Kingdom filly is out of More Than Ready’s daughter, Ready Magic, the dam of three multiple winners with her first three foals, including Rockford, a three-time winner, who also took second in the black-type VRC Herald Sun Superracing Stakes.

Ready Magic is half-sister to the AJC Light Fingers Stakes (gr. II) victress Trezevant, to graded placed Step Ahead, and to the dam of grade one placed Tennessee Strategy. The second dam is the accomplished runner, Tennessee Magic, winner of the VRC Neat n' Trim Uniform Stakes and VATC Bounding Away Handicap, runner-up in the VATC Merson Cooper Stakes (gr. III), third in the VATC Blue Diamond Prelude (gr. III), and fourth in the VATC Blue Diamond Stakes (gr. I).

Tennessee Magic is a sister to Tennessee Morn, successful in the VRC Maribyrnong Plate (gr. II), VATC Blue Diamond Prelude (gr. III) and Maribyrnong Trial Stakes. Tennessee Morn is dam of the current sprint star Malaguerra, who is a winner of over A$1,400,000, winning the VRC Darley Classic (gr. I) and BTC Cup (gr. I), and of stakes winner Tennessee Midnight, granddam of ATC Coolmore Classic (gr. I) laureate, Aloha, and third dam of the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (gr. II) and VRC Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (gr, III) victress, My Emotion.

Tennessee Magic is also a sister to stakes winner Tennessee Mist and stakes placed Tennessee Spirit, and half-sister to stakes placed Academic, the granddam of multiple stakes winner Tennessee Wills. Tennessee Magic is out of the top-class performer, Tennesse Vain, who took the VRC AV Kewney Stakes (gr. II), STC Storm Queen Stakes (gr. II), Magic Night Stakes (gr. II) and VRC Vanity Stakes, and captured runner-up spot in the VRC Oaks (gr. I). Tennessee Vain is a sister to graded stakes winner Tennessee Jack, and out of stakes winning and grade one placed Misty Vain, also ancestress of Snitzerland, a grade one winner of nearly A$2,000,000, and of graded winners My Emotion, Sooboog and Nina Haraka.

Already a half-sister to a black-type performer, this filly is free of Danehill, but is from a prolific family that features at least eight Danehill line stakes winners, two grade one, giving her the potential to have considerable residual value.
