First Class Flyer

"Strong type by Leading First Season Sire"
First Class Flyer has returned to pre-training at Shipton after a 24 week spell which was the result of having some joint issues when last in work. After much consultation with the brilliant veterinary staff from Randwick Equine Centre the resolution was made to spell him, giving him a solid rest and allow his joints to recover after what had been a solid growth spurt that had started to impact on his joints in trackwork and was causing some comfort issues for the horse.

He was gelded as well to ensure he doesn't get too heavy and this will assist with his ability to handle trackwork when at the Randwick stable. Many champion racehorses wouldn't have been champions if they weren't gelded so we will not have any regrets gelding this horse, we want a racehorse, not a heavy slow stallion!

Finally our strong Snitzel gelding has trialled! He ran a very credible third on the 4th of October, he took it all in his stride and hit the line in good stead. He performed in a similar manner for his second trial on the 14th of October, again for third, hitting the line strongly. For his first two racing experiences John was extremely happy with him, declaring that he will be a "very smart horse come winter". FIrst Class Flyer performed very well for his first official race start. He was 3rd first up on Melbourne Cup day at Kembla Grange. He jumped very quickly in his debut run and travelled right amongst them, around the turn he was neck and neck with Darci's Money who gave him a few hard knocks on the turn which cost us 2nd position by a head. A promising outcome, First Class Flyer rallied following the turn and galloped home strongly. When Grant Buckley dismounted he commented that First Class Flyer was a very nice horse who would really excel over 1200 - 1400m.

Following his second start, First Class Flyer indicated that he had had enough this preparation leading to us put him out to spell under the knowledgeable, watchful eye of Shannon Betts at Emeran Park, he will spell for approximately 12 weeks with the aim to have him back at the pre-trainers in March to gear up for his next preparation.
