Zabrasive Impressive in the Memsie

Jockey Craig Newitt said that the run was "super" when you consider where he is at in his preparation and what his goals will be.
Saturday was over the 1400m distance which is well short of what he is being trained for, and under the weight for age conditions of the Memsie, Zabrasive will be better suited when he does eventually hit the handicap events for which he is being prepared.
Trainer, John O'Shea, was delighted with the run, and commented immediately after the event that "thats the way to ride him". "His condition gave out, but i dont think they will be able to sprint away from him in the staying races, and im not sure any of those horses that beat him, will be Caulfield or Melbourne Cup bound like we are".
Zabrasive gets a nice 3 week lead up now to his next race, being the Gr1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield on September 18 over the more suitable 1800m.
Fingers crossed for his owners.
