Champion Sires In Form
Thursday, January 28, 2010
The ever consistent Commands, remains the Leading Sire by winners in Australia with an ever increasing list. Last Saturday at Rosehill, Commands featured with a race to race double in the first 2 races on the programme. The first race was taken out by the Peter Snowden trained 3YO Colt Killian when he won the Simplot Hcp over 1200m. This was his 3rd win from just 8 starts and he will now be given a break and brought back for races like the Gosford and Hawkesbury Guineas.
The following race, the Kraft Philadelphia Hcp over 2000m was taken out by the Kevin Moses trained Deltona, a 6YO son of Commands, now the winner of 6 races. A 20% share in Champion’s Commands/Montecatini colt is still available.
More Than Ready has also been consistently providing winners of late. His most exciting recent winner was the Allan Bailey trained 2YO More Than More who took out the Australia Day @ Races Hcp over 1000m at Eagle Farm last Saturday. After missing the jump and settling near last, he was able to thread his way through the field to win going away, by almost a length. It was an outstanding win on debut and he will now be spelled with the Winter Carnival features in mind.
Later in the day More Than Ready was represented by Readiness at Rosehill where he took out the Crown Glassware Hcp over 1500m. On Tuesday at Randwick, tough 3YO filly Modonna was most impressive in taking out the Captain Cook Hcp over 1300m by almost 3 ½ lengths. Following on from a last start win over the same distance, the Gai Waterhouse trained filly has now been in work for 6 months and has hardly missed a place. She is bred on the same successful More Than Ready/Danehill cross as is Champions 2YO colt Rough N Ready, who commences pretraining next Monday, 1st February.
More Than Ready produced the top priced lot at the opening session of the Perth Magic Millions yearling sale yesterday when one of his fillies made $230,000. Champion Thoroughbreds are now syndicating a son of More Than Ready who was purchased at the recent Gold Coast Magic Millions sale. Shares are available for $12,980 for 10% (pictured below)
