First Stakes Winner For Snitzel

Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Exciting 2YO filly, Chance Bye, ensured her place in the Golden Slipper field with a comfortable win in the Gr 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill last Saturday.  The speedy daughter of leading first season sire Snitzel, is now exempt from ballot for the world’s richest 2YO race on April 3.The fairytale is set to continue with the bargain buy of $15,000 having now returned $437,700 for her ecstatic owners.

Sent straight to the lead by regular jockey Kathy O’Hara, Chance Bye led all the way, kicking clear in the straight to go on and win by 1.5 lengths from the John O’Shea trained Amber’s Waltz.  Battling Kembla Grange trainer and part owner, Michael Tubman has done a fabulous job with the filly who has now won all 3 career starts.  Her next start will be in the Golden Slipper.

“We’re in it – they’re in trouble”, Tubman said.  “She was short of a run today.  She’ll go straight to the Slipper now without another run.  I’ll give her a trial before it and she’ll be 150% right”.

With her win on Saturday, Chance Bye became Snitzel’s first Stakes Winner.  Snitzel has the enviable statistics to date of 15 runners for 6 winners, a winners/runners ratio of 40%.  Champion Thoroughbreds are very excited to have secured a very nice Snitzel colt at the Magic Millions sale in January.  We paraded our colt to a large crowd at our inspection day last Sunday and he was very well received.  There is now only 5% remaining to be sold.
