Impressive Win For Zabrasive
Monday, February 22, 2010
The John O’Shea trained, Zabrasive made an impressive return to racing yesterday at Wyong when he easily won the Lawrie McKinna Hcp (Cl 1) over 1350m. Resuming from a spell, the son of Zabeel made light work of his first up assignment at just his 4th start.
After jumping well, champion jockey Hugh Bowman settled him back in the field where he relaxed beautifully. Bowman circled the field prior to the turn and on straightening, he quickly reeled in the leaders to win comfortably by almost 1 ½ lengths
John has always had a good opinion of this horse, so much so that he is being aimed at the Rosehill Guineas and ultimately the AJC Derby. His next start will be at Warwick Farm on 8th March in a 3YO & UP NMW Hcp over 1600m.
John was ecstatic with Zabrasive’s effort given the track conditions were not ideal. It was a most encouraging first up performance which will ready him for his next start over a mile where he will be well suited even though it is likely he will carry a big weight.
Champion Thoroughbreds would like to sincerely congratulate the owners, many of whom were in attendance, and thank them for entrusting the management of their horse to Champion. Those involved in the ownership are John Pfeiffer, Charles Beynon, Rod Farrar, Nadim Joukhader, Paul Kruining, Frank Malia, George Christofis, the Danasia Syndicate and the Latchbar Syndicate.
