Solar Charged For Slipper

Friday, February 19, 2010

John O’Shea’s exciting 2YO filly, Solar Charged (by Charge Forward), showed that she will be a serious Golden Slipper contender in this morning’s Rosehill barrier trial.

Leading all the way, she was never put under any pressure by jockey Corey Brown when recording a strong time of 54.5 seconds for the 900m.

“She’s very good and very well”, Brown said.  “That was an above average trial”.

Solar Charged created a huge impression on debut at Randwick on 28 November when she blew her rivals away to score by 5 lengths over the 1000m course.  She was then spelled immediately with the prospect of a big Autumn campaign in mind.

Her likely first up assignment will be  in the Gr 3 Kindergarten Stakes at Warwick Farm on March 6.  A new jockey will now have to be found with the recent decision by Corey Brown to accept an offer to compete in an international jockey series in Dubai on March 5.
