The Starlet is a 5YO mare by champion sire Encosta De Lago from the Marauding mare Screen Star. This is a family that has produced top line stakes winners in Stage Hit, Encores, Sir Laurence and Pillaging.

She is a winner on the provincial tracks of Wyong, Gosford, and Kembla over 1100m, 1400m and 1600m.

The Starlet has made nice progress and has produced a win and a close 2nd this preparation, including the gallant run at Rosehill beaten a neck on a Saturday by the up and coming Gigas.

She then went to the mile of Royal Randwick on the 30th January, and ridden up on the speed which didnt suit her finishing mid field. The Starlet has gained a reputation as a mare who gives her all and is a decent trier in her races. She is not a fan of wet tracks overall, but up to dead she is very competitive.

She has a great bunch of owners, some first timers, some well experienced, and they can be proud of their mare and the efforts she has been putting in of late for them. 

The Starlet sustained a joint injury just prior to a scheduled run at Canterbury on 12th February.  It has required significant veterinary treatment and she will be out of action for at least 6 months.  She has been sent to Emeran Park in the interim.
