Honest Lies

A promising racehorse
This Classic sale graduate, selected by John O'Shea, will turn himself into an astute buy for his owners in the future once he matures.

He is a lightly raced son of O'Reilly who made it 3 wins back to back when he took out the 1400m 3YO Benchmark 73 at Rosehill in November on a Saturday! This just 4 days after he won the NMW Canley Heights Hcp over 1300m at Warwick Farm (17 November). He continued his recent good form after having won impressively on Melbourne Cup day over the same journey by 3 1/2 lengths at Kembla Grange.

John feels he is a progressive horse who is acting on raw ability which is a bonus as in twelve months time we would expect him to really show us his best. Hugh Bowman and Tim Bell shares this opinion.

His sire O'Reilly is very versatile and can throw talented gallopers who excel at both sprinting and staying and improving with age. Honest Lies best distance may well be around 1600m.

He has now won $82,000 in 10 starts with 4 wins and a placing under his belt.

Not many horses can win 3 starts in a row, and more importantly he did it by going from a maiden to a Saturday Metropolitan standard in 3 weeks. His toughness was there for all to see when John backed him up from a mid week to the Saturday, and he treated each field with the same contempt. This is a horse on the move.

Honest Lies has been gelded recently after a wayward preparation in the autumn even though he still claimed a victory at Kembla carrying 58kg. He was back at work in July, and  he is due to trial in early September. Everyone is extremely excited about the future of Honest Lies, he is very well within himself and he will prove to be competitive this Spring.
