Suit Of Armour Kicks Off New Year With A Bang At Canterbury
The New Year celebrations continued for the connections of Suit Of Armour who won the opening race at Canterbury on Monday- a $100,000 Super Maiden over 1900m.

Lining up for start number 4, a decision by trainer John O'Shea to apply the blinkers proved a winning move with the 4YO son of Camelot saluting is convincing fashion over the staying trip. After showing no early pace in his previous 3 starts, the blinkers proved the key in allowing Suit Of Armour to settle in a more forward position from barrier 4.

"When we jumped from the gates, I thought, beautiful, we got into a nice spot and I was a tiny bit worried when the Waller horse took off which caught us napping  but I was able to bide my time, get him out and balanced and then he was off and gone when I needed around the home turn" jockey Kerrin McEvoy told connections after the win.

"He was really good through the line and will keep developing."

Suit Of Armour was purchased for 75,000 pounds from the 2021 Tattersalls October Yearling sale at Newmarket in the UK through Champion's European agent Cathy Grassick from Brian Grassick Bloodstock.
