The Winner's Keep Coming For Ocean Park

Second season sire Ocean Park continues to produce his fair share of winners and looks to have a star on the horizon with OCEAN KNIGHT getting the job done in impressive fashion on debut at Caulfield on Saturday. The two year old, trained by the Hayes & Dabernig stable scooted away to defeat his rivals by 2.5L- paying an attractive $8.50 against the field of 10 runners.

"I thought it was a pretty smart win. He's a horse we believe will get over a bit of ground- he showed a good turn of foot and was quite strong on the line" Co-trainer Tom Daberig commented post race. "A race like the Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington on ANZAC Day might be a nice race for his next start".

This colt was purchased as a yearling at the NZB Karaka Sale by Champion Thoroughbreds Victoria in partnership with Lindsay Park Racing. Director Jason Abrahams loved the horse on inspection and urged the Victorian team to purchase him- and they did so successfully for $115,000. He is now raced in the ownership of the newly formed Carbine Thoroughbreds (formally Champion Thoroughbreds Victoria).

"I thought this colt was a standout in New Zealand last year and really pushed Suman Hedge (manager of Champion Victoria) to have a good crack at buying him. I would have loved to have purchased him for NSW, but with 2 Ocean Park's already in our stable, I knew we'd probably struggle to sell shares in him" Champion Director Jason Abrahams commented after the sale.

Along with Ocean Knight, the Hayes & Dabernig team also celebrated a win with Ocean Class- a three year old Ocean Park colt having his fifth career start at Wangaratta on Friday. The colt, guided by a text book Linda Meech ride was too good over the 1590m trip.

Off the back of the success of Ocean Knight and our very own Southern Lad, we're excited to be synidcating this stunning son of Ocean Park out of Group 1 placed mare Twilight Granita who is bred on the same cross as Ocean Knight (both out of Ifraaj mares). This colt represents incredible value at just $5,500 per 5% share including GST.
