Life's A Beach For Sir Denzel After Retirement


Last month we received an excellent update on retired Champion horse Zoltar and we were so pleased to receive an update on past stable member Sir Denzel from his owner Tayah. Tayah took on Sir Denzel in 2014 when he was retired from Racing. Now an 8 year old, Denzel has been competing at low level eventing for the past year and is a "very bold jumper". His forte is cross country but he is perfecting his dressage moves before he can progress to a higher grade. Tayah adores his laid back, cheeky attitude and told us that he has an unlikely obsession with milk coffee biscuits. She said that he still remembers his racing days, especially when they venture to the beach for a gallop.

Sir Denzel notched up one win and 4 placings during his racing career including a start in the Group 1 QLD Derby in 2013. He was moved on from Champion in 2014 before being retired after one start. It was then he found his forever home with Tayah.

With so much emphasis on horse welfare in the racing industry it is important that we highlight the time and effort that goes into these horses after racing. We would like to say thank you to Tayah for giving Sir Denzel a fantastic home and we wish them more success (and milk coffee biscuits) in the future!

Champion New South Wales will be holding their 2017 Christmas Gathering at the John O'Shea Racing Stables on Friday, December 15th from 5pm onwards. Champion open the invitation to all owners (past and present) and friends to come along and enjoy some fantastic Spanish themed food whilst catching up with the team and our four legged friends. 

The Mighty Roar Salutes At Ballarat

Three year old Animal Kingdom Colt ROAR has rid his maiden status after a taking out the Eureka Concrete Maiden Plate over 1600m at Ballarat. Given a well rated front running ride from barrier 1, Roar showed his true staying ability when winning by 1 length, defeating the Darren Weir trained Pollinator and the Ken Key's trained Bradbury 

Bumper Melbourne Cup Day Headed By Flemington Runner

The Champion colours will be well represented for racing's busiest day on the calender with four runners representing the team in New South Wales and Victoria on Melbourne Cup Day. KURO will headline the line-up when he contests in the Listed MSS Security Sprint over 1200m down the famous Flemington straight (Race 9 @ 4:45pm)
