Butterboom Ready To Kick Off Final Preparation At Rosehill On Saturday

Consistent city class mare Butterboom will head to Rosehill on Saturday to commence her final preparation before the Magic Millions broodmare sale at the end of the month. Following a timely Group 1 win from her half sister Foxplay in the Group 1 Coolmore Legacy last month, Butterboom (rising 6 year old) was nominated for the sale.

The daughter of Myboycharlie, raced by an all women's syndicate, has had 21 starts for 4 wins including a Saturday metropolitan victory at Rosehill in June last year where she defeated Flamboyant Lass and Magic Of Dreams. Adding to her consistent record, Butterboom has finished 2nd on 6 occasions and notched up 4 3rd placings. Proving she is as honest as they come, she has only finished out of the top 4 placings in just 3 races to earn her owners over $210,000 in prizemoney.

Butterboom is first-up in the Your Local Greengrocer Handicap for the fillies and mares over 1100m on Saturday. Trainer Joe Pride has utilized the 3kg claim of apprentice Nick Heywood to give her 58kg for the event. Nick rode her at her last start when she finished 3rd on the one week back-up at her final start last preparation at Randwick, beaten just 1.5L by subsequent 2 x Group 3 winner Rainment.

Saturday's race is filled with a field of 17 consistent fillies and mares. Butterboom will need a touch of luck from the barrier 9 where she will likely look for some cover just behind the leaders. The main dangers in the race will be the lightly raced Bonny O'Reilly (Bjorn Baker) who has notched up 4 wins from 6 starts. The John O'Shea trained Rillito and Chris Waller trained In Times Of War also look to have a lot of upside.

Butterboom is coming off two trials at Warwick Farm leading into Saturday's race and will certainly be fit enough for the 1100m. Joe Pride has been happy with her work leading into the race and expects another bold effort from her.

Joining her at the Magic Millions Broodmare sale will be our recently retired Group 3 winning mare Ammirata. You can view Magic Millions catalogue via the following link:ecat.magicmillions.com.au/viewAll/17GWM

Best of Luck to her big group of owners!
