Motown Lil

A daughter of the sensational Sebring, this filly is out of a talented racemare who is a three-quarters sister to a trio of stakes winners.

A Champion Two-Year-Old and Golden Slipper (gr. I) winner by Champion Sire of Two-Year-Olds, More Than Ready, Sebring has made a tremendous start to his stud career. From his first two crops, he is already sire such as Dissident, whose quartet of grade one victories include the Randwick Guineas (gr. I); Criterion, successful in the Australian Derby (gr. I) and Rosehill Guineas (gr. I); and graded stakes scorers Bring Me the Maid, Believe Yourself, Clifton Red, Kiss a Rose and Scratchy Bottom.

This Sebring filly is the first foal of Tigress Lily, a daughter of Snitzel, and from a family that has been particularly notable for producing classy females. A four-time winner, Tigress Lily was also beaten less than 11Ž2 lengths in the ATC Epona Stakes (gr. III). Tigress Lily is a three-quarters sister to two other notable Snitzel offspring in Ygritte – winner this term of the Gosford Guineas, and also five times graded stakes placed – and to WATC Ascot 1,000 Guineas captress.

My Sister Lil. In addition, she is also three-quarters sister to classic performer Estee – by Snitzel’s sire, Redoute’s Choice – winner of the SACJ Adelaide Guineas, and runner-up in the SAJC Schweppes Oaks (gr. I).

The second dam, is another classic performer in the shape of Empress Lily, whose graded stakes runs included a second in the VRC Edward Manifold Stakes (gr. II) and a third in the VRC Oaks (gr. I). Superbly-bred, Empress Lily is by Champion Sire Zabeel, out of Tycoon Lil, a Horse of the Year and three-time Champion in New Zealand, her victories including the New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (gr. I), New Zealand Oaks (gr. I) and STC Canterbury Guineas (gr. I).

This filly is a product of the cross of Sebring back over a mare from his own broodmare sire line, that of Danehill. This cross has so far been represented by graded stakes winner Kiss a Rose (out of a mare by Redoute’s Choice, the grandsire of the dam of this filly), graded stakes winner Scratchy Bottom, and stakes winner Pressing. This is also a version of the cross of Sebring over a mare from the Danzig line, as found in Sebring’s superstar, Dissident.
