North Pole Dancer

"Strong, Athletic Mare with Plenty of Pedigree"

This Inglis Easter sale filly, selected by John O'Shea, is by the immensely successful sire, Anabaa, who is famous for producing horses like Virage De Fortune, Headturner and Yell. In fact this filly is out of a Zabeel mare, the same cross as Group 1 winner Headturner as well as Kutchinsky!

What is equally interesting is that this filly is a full-sister in blood to Pravana who is also trained by John and ran 4th in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic for fillies and mares in 2009. North Pole Dancer is from the family of Pravda (Group 2 winner), Cronus (Group 1 winner) and Samantha Miss, which all figure close up on her pedigree page, this mare will have plenty of residual value at the end of her racing career.

North Pole Dancer kicked off her campaign rather stylishly. Following a good third at a Randwick barrier trial, she made the trip to Kembla Grange to contest a 1200m maiden. The conditions were absolutely awful with heavy rain ensuring the track was rated a Heavy 9. Displaying huge heart, she led the field for the entirety of the trip and was JUST pipped on the line for second place. We were very pleased with her effort. She pulled up well and the next move was a 1400m maiden at Melbourne Cup Day at Randwick where she was quite up in class. Unfortunately she got battered around the corner and didn't quite recover to finish at the tail of the field. Onwards and upwards! Her third up start was very promising, having a rough time in transit North Pole Dancer travelled to the line well, clinching fourth. We have since put her out for a short, two week freshen up.

Bred and reared at one of Australia’s most successful nurseries, Willow Park Stud, this filly ticks all the boxes. An exciting prospect, she has all the athleticism to match her pedigree.

She is constantly developing as you would expect and is now starting to fill out and look like a classy filly. She is currently in work and has completed 2 trials in September, including a solid win at Randwick, so she will now be set for a debut run early October. Good luck to all her owners!
