This Magic Millions colt was purchased from the good Hunter Valley farm in Murrulla Stud (bred and raised Sirmione, the Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes winner of 2007). He is an attractive loose walking colt, and given the phenomenal results Commands is achieving, you want them on your side come raceday if you want to be in the winners circle.
Commands has had 24 stakeswinners including two group one winners this year, with a staggering 18 of his stakes winners being colts. They averaged $140,000 at easter this season and has a 67.8% winners to runners percentage. This tells you he is a great sire of quality stock.
This cracking colt is the first foal of a 3 times winning Marauding mare. Marauding mares have been going gangbusters with the likes of Dealer Principal, Grand Armee, Melito and Ambulance all coming out of Marauding mares. Combining these 2 stallions along with the second damsire Last Tycoon, who has managed to produce 7 Gr1 winners this season that have him in their damline, gives an amazing picture of what this colts family can do.
He has returned for his second preparation and is progressing extremely well. Last time in he showed great speed out of the gates in his jump outs and John was excited to be able to give him a let up over January and February, in readiness, for his next test, a full preparation as an autumn 2yo!
This horse was gelded in mid February. He began pre training on the 15th March and returned to the stable early April. He then worked along nicely prior to a bone chip in a fetlock which has since been removed and he returned to the stables at the end of August. He has been exceptional in training so far, and continues to progress in a positive manner. He is expected to begin trialling mid September before progressing to a successful Spring campaign.
